M69 (NGC 6637) Sgr globular cluster
Difficulty level 3
Date of observation: 2000/08/05 0:29
Observing site: Hoshinomura
Transparency/seeing/sky darkness: 2/3/2
Instruments: 32cm Dobsonian with RA10 at 150x
Width of field: 0.4‹
It is located south of the Teapot in Sagittarius. It is one of the not-so-popular Messier objects in this region such as M54, M69, and M70.
It is a small globular. Usually I sketch globulars at 110x, as higher magnifications make drawing difficulty with so many stars resolved. However, it is necessary to use higher magnifications to see detail of this cluster.
It is not well resolved but the surface is quite grainy. Many stars are visible; particularly a star east of the center is conspicuous. A central condensation is clear and the edges are ragged.
There is a bright star in the north and many other stars are seen in the field. South of the cluster there are many faint stars, but it is not clear if they are members of this cluster.
