This cluster is situated between the PraesepeiM44jand the head of Hydra. It is a beautiful, compact open cluster. It is moderately bright and many stars are contained in the cluster. Around bright stars numerous faint stars are packed closely together. The distribution of stars is uneven and gives an impression that many clumps of stars are strung together. Its overall shape resembles the zodiac sign of Aries or a lobster. There are conspicuous three stars at the southwestern end and a bright star in the northeast.
