This is one of the galaxies in a group near the hind leg of Leo. It is large and bright, and compared with the neighboring M66, this galaxy's elongation is clearer. It is as bright as M66.
There is a round core at the center and the nebulosity extends far to the south and north with pointed ends. However, it is not as narrow as an edge-on galaxy. Two stars are visible, one each on both sides of the core.
