Although this is labeled M40, it is a double star. A small galaxy is visible in the same field of view.
M40: This is a bright double star with similar brightness. The color of both stars is pure white and beautiful. As the separation angle is fairly large, it is the best to view it at 100x.
NGC 4290: This is faint and diffuse and easy to overlook. It is small and roundish with very weak concentration.
