M31 And Galaxy Difficult level: 1/5
M32 And Galaxy Difficulty level: 2/5
N205 And Galaxy Difficulty level: 3/5
Date of observation: 1996.08.13 02:03
Observing site: Hoshinomura
Transparency: 4/5
Seeing: 3/5
Sky darkness: 3/5
Instruments: 30X125 binoculars
Magnification: 30x
Width of field: 1.6 degrees
This is one of the most famous galaxies. It is so large that it overflows the eyepiece field and bright enough for naked eye viewing. The center is compact and elongated with a strong central condensation. The halo is elongated and extends outward with smooth gradation in brightness. Compared with the southwestern part of the galaxy, the northeastern part is faint but more extensive. In the northwest a thin dark lane is clearly visible running along the axis. The presence of a faint halo is confirmed on the other side of the dark lane.
M32: Visible south of M31. It is circular. Central condensation and a bright nucleus are conspicuous.
N205: Visible at the edge of the eyepiece field in the northwest. Elliptical and rather large with a weak central condensation.
M31(NGC 224) And Galaxy Difficulty level: 1/5
Date of observation: 1996/10/15 02:21
Observing site: Kuju
Transparency/seeing/sky darkness: 3/2/4
Instruments: 32cm Dobsonian and XL14
Magnification: 110x
Width of field: 0.6 degree
It is interesting to observe at higher magnifications for details. It is a magnificent view with two dark lanes clearly seen. A brighter circular core is visible within the large elongated central bulge. West of the center lies a double dark lane. The regions other than the dark lanes show unevenness in brightness.
M31(N224) And Galaxy Difficulty Level: 1/5
M32(N221) And Galaxy Difficulty Level: 2/5
N206 And Star Cloud Difficulty Level: 4/5
Date of observation: 1996/10/15 02:35
Observing site: Kiju
Transparency/seeing/sky darkness: 3/2/4
Instruments: 32cm Dobsonian and XL14
Magnification: 110x
Width of field: 0.6 degree
The star cloud NGC 206 is visible at a considerable distance to the southwest from the center. This is in a region where stars are concentrated within a spiral arm. It seems to be a little darker east of NGC 206.
G76 And extragalactic globular cluster Difficulty level: 4/5
Date of observation: 1999/12/04 01:06
Observing site: Makinoto
Transparency/seeing/sky darkness: 3/3/3
Instruments: 32cm Dobsonian and RA8
Magnification: 190x
Width of field: 0.3 degree
This is a globular cluster belonging to M31, the Great Andromeda Galaxy. Although it is a globular, it appears only as a faint star because of its great distance from us. It is difficult to identify but easy to see it.
G78 And Globular Cluster Difficulty level: 4/5
Date of observation: 1999/01/22 01:22
Observing site: Makinoto
Transparency/seeing/sky darkness: 3/3/3
Instruments: 32cm Dobsonian and RA8
Magnification: 190x
Width of field: 0.3 degree
Just like G76, this is a globular belonging to M31 and is one of the brightest. It appears stellar and faint.
