This is a dynamic globular cluster with bright stars being scattered in the outlying area. Several strings of stars are seen in the west. Particularly the one extending to the southwest is wide and conspicuous involving faint stars. The degree of concentration is rather low, but it doesn't appear sparse because of the concentration of faint stars at the center. There are a few dark lanes running north-south.
